Below you may find our fleet Insurance Policy, the safety and damage coverage of our vehicles is extremely important to us.
This Insurance Policy explains how REV Automotive ("we", "our", "us") covers its vehicles with insurance protection, and the liability claims we exercise for vehicle damages and accidents. By renting one of our vehicles or using our services, you agree to the practices and terms described in this Insurance Policy.
1. REV Automotive Rentals Insurance Provider
We work exclusively with Alliaz Auto to protect and insure all our vehicles.
1.1. Insurance Coverage Included
All vehicles rented through REV Automotive Rentals are covered by mandatory insurance in accordance with Portuguese law, including:
- Full coverage of the rented vehicle and passengers
- Third-party liability insurance (Responsabilidade Civil Obrigatória)
- Coverage for damages caused to third parties, property, and passengers
1.2. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
The rental includes a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), which limits the renter’s financial liability in case of damage to the vehicle, subject to the following:
The renter remains liable up to a maximum excess of the Total Deposit Amount
CDW does NOT cover damages caused by negligence, misuse, or breach of contract.
2. Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit of €[amount depending on vehicle] will be charged to the renter.
Typical ranges:
Luxury SUV's and small sports vehicles: €3000 – €6000+
Supercars: €6000 – €10000+
The deposit may be used to cover:
Insurance excess
Traffic fines or administrative fees
Fuel discrepancies
Late return penalties
Damages caused by negligence, misuse, or breach of contract
3. Exclusions from Insurance Coverage
Insurance and CDW are void in the following situations:
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Reckless driving, racing, drifting, or track use
Driving outside Portugal mainland borders
Use by unauthorized drivers
Damage to tires, wheels, undercarriage, interior, or clutch due to misuse
Negligence (including but not limited to; ignoring warning lights, improper fuel use, improper vehicle treatment)
4. Accident & Damage Procedure
In case of an accident or damage, the renter must:
Immediately notify REV Automotive
Contact local authorities (PSP/GNR)
Complete an accident report (Declaração Amigável)
Not admit liability without company approval
Failure to follow procedure may result in full liability.
5. Theft & Loss
In case of theft:
Full liability applies if keys are lost or mishandled
Theft must be reported to REV Automotive and official authorities within 24 hours
Insurance coverage depends on compliance with all terms
6. Administrative & Handling Fees
The company reserves the right to charge additional fees for:
Accident processing: 500€
Traffic fine handling: 100€
Cleaning or damage assessment fees: 250-500€
7. Cross-Border Use
Vehicles may not be taken outside Portugal. Doing so will result in additional penalties, including any fees incurred by authorities and security services.
8. Driver Requirements (Insurance Validity Condition)
- Minimum Age: 25 (27+ for select models).
- License Requirements: Valid driver's license held for a minimum of 2–5 years.
- International Renters: Must present passport and International Driving Permit (IDP) if required.
- Additional Requirements: Supply a European ID Card or International Passport, Proof of Address (e.g. utility bill).
- Authorized Drivers Only: Only the driver named on the rental agreement may operate the vehicle.
- Additional Drivers: One additional driver may be requested at an additional charge.
